Higher Education Experience
I have worked as an academic librarian and library director for more than 10 years; most of that time was spent working in health sciences libraries. I’ve also published and presented on a number of library and education topics. My primary research areas of interest are ethical health communication (including health journalism), media literacy in the misinformation and disinformation (“fake news” and “post-truth”) era, and librarians and gender stereotypes. Finally, I have taught college-level developmental composition, freshman composition and advanced composition courses in person and online.
Writing, Editing, and PR Experience
I have over 10 years of experience in writing, editing, and public relations for a variety of small companies and individuals including independent publishers Crave Press and Sunbury Press; lifestyle magazine Berks County Living; author Keith Rommel; and newspapers Reading Eagle, The Kutztown Area Patriot, and The Hamburg Item.
Education
I am currently completing a PhD Strategic Leadership and Administrative Studies from Marywood University. I have the following degrees: Master of Arts Professional and Digital Media Writing from East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania; Master of Library and Information Science from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey; Bachelor of Arts English/Professional Writing with a minor in public relations from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania; and a Bachelor of Arts Speech Communication with minors in Spanish and political science from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania.
